TEP is excited to announce the addition of Jeff VanZee to our team and Nondestructive evaluation to our growing list of capabilities. Jeff is a Department Manager newly founded Dallas location. Although he lives in Dallas, he hates the Cowboys (who could blame him?) but enjoys fishing, golf, and football. Jeff brings a specialized service to TEP along with an impressive list of qualifications and certifications. In addition to being a CWI (Certified Welding Inspector), Jeff is ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) Level II qualified, which means he can set up and calibrate equipment, conduct the inspection per procedures, interpret, evaluate, and document results in all testing methods in which he is certified.
Jeff has over a decade of experience as an NDE (Nondestructive Evaluation) inspector and department manager in the aerospace, petroleum, nuclear, telecommunications, and commercial construction industries. NDE is the process of inspecting, testing or evaluating materials, components, or assemblies for discontinuities or differences in characteristics without destroying the serviceability of the part or system. When the inspection is complete, the part remains intact. He is also responsible for understanding and interpreting all applicable codes, standards, and other documents that control the NDE method being utilized and the personnel performing the inspection. Throughout his experience, he has performed inspections for Boeing, Exxon Mobile, BP, Shell, DOD, as well as numerous high rises and bridges. Jeff includes that, “Working for a metallurgical engineering company helped broaden my knowledge of materials and material properties.”
Ultimately, Jeff joined TEP because;
“TEP has one of the best names in the Telecommunications industry for the services they provide. After meeting and working with Andy Haldane, Trent Johnston, Kyle Edwards, and Brad Little, I knew I wanted to be a part of the culture here. TEP offers a great working environment and offers a huge opportunity for growth.”
With the addition of Jeff, TEP now offers a niche service that few competitors offer while there is a high demand. Jeff is qualified to teach, train, and certify other personnel to perform the specialized inspections, allowing even more growth for TEP and its employees. Not to mention, he will be taking his Level III ASNT exams within the next year. This will ultimately allow him to act as a consultant for TEP clients to help develop better inspection practices. Jeff has built NDE programs from the ground up and hopes to set up a program at all TEP locations. With this service, Jeff is helping TEP reach its goals of becoming the “one-stop shop” for all client needs while keeping the cost lower than the competition, increasing our workload, yet bringing a higher level of quality control to our clients by cutting out sub-contractors.
Welcome to the TEP team, Jeff!
